Civil Rights

The word equality is basically important with civil rights because civil rights is about equality. It's known that equality doesn't occur for all people. Have We Overcome? Either it has to do with jobs, income or just the way they are looked at. experience of different races is more or less identical, whites get favored over other races. There is still a lot of work that has to be done. Although Barack Obama achieved this much there still statistics on health, income and lingering racial disparities in education. There are many others still that don't get the chance.

Civil Rights is important to all different people. The civil rights has improved black lives since 1950's. People are responsible for civil rights. As Bill Cosby mentioned in the Pound Cake Speech many don't take part in keeping it right. There are people getting locked up talking in slang. This is all because the parents do not teach the kids right from wrong. This may explain the reason there a low income within races other than whites. Bill Cosby mentioned that people complained about the board of education but they can't get upset at the board of education if the people don't want to learn.

Women didn't have the same rights as men. They couldn't vote work or do anything a man was allowed to. Not because they weren't capable of doing such a thing, they weren't allowed to. Women now have the privilege. In the poem "AIN'T I A WOMEN" Sojourner Truth explains that even though she's a women she doesn't act like it. Shes strong physically and mentally and she does everything she did as a women. Civil Rights also lacked equality in the faith they give meaning they don't give women the chance to show that their judgment could be wrong.any three of the Forerunner poets' poems

Today there are still many differences in the way people live. Certain people live wealthy in a nice clean area. Others live life day by day hoping for the best and working with the little they have. Even though this sometimes depends on what we work for, what family we grew up with, statics still remain the same that mostly Blacks and Hispanics live in poverty. Why is that? This all comes down to equality and stereotypes everyday people judge and just have a automatic thought "He/she is Asian there smart and have a lot of money" or "They are white they are rich" as when you see a black or Hispanic person " They don't work or they work for minimum wage". It's not right and also not fair but that's the truth and just like people judge and categorizes certain races so do jobs when it comes to opportunity of who they want to hire.

In the poem "SATURDAY'S CHILD"any three of the Forerunner poets' poems Countee Cullen wrote a poem on how certain people live the good life of being wealthy and cater to as some others live rough and have to do everything for there own. This poem was based on the years 1903-1946. Much hasn't changed from today there still a lot of unequal ways of living and once again that shows equality we lack.

In America there a lot of things we don't know. Depending on where you stand determines how much information you will get. People who have a higher place meaning the government, mayors, presidents hide things from us. With things that are taking part in our world today. We also don't take action towards are rights even though we know its not right not enough of us fight for what we earn. We let stereotypes and the inequality continue. "WE WEAR THE MASK"any three of the Forerunner poets' poems Paul Lawrence Dunbar in other words explain how us people act today. We hide our feelings we deny what we know isn't right. This is why today we still suffer racism and all the other mistreatment.

In the Obama speech on March 18,2008 Obama states that he doesn't think anything can improve unless we all help together. Now in these days people do not help out and all together is equality and since people are automatically not equal in America thats where the problem comes in. Obama also mentions that race is a issue. In order to change things we cant ignore the conflict with race." What America has a problem with is understanding that we all have different stories but have common hopes. Meaning not everyone the same certain people grow up wealthy and others don't. Even though that's the case we shouldn't get treated any different knowing most of us just want things in our country to go good.

Obama speech Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 at 9:01 pm he spoke about education. Many people drop out of high school and in order to get a good job now and days you need more then a high school diploma and a few years in college. Obama thinks half of the reason is because of its expensive but also because not enough people are involved. It's mentioned in the speech that they have made college affordable for like seven hundred more students. To make a difference they can't only give they need support and participation. There giving out many things necessary and dropping out of school is no longer an option. We didn't get into debt in just one day we have been living and letting it happen for a while. America has a lot of work to be done its gonna take time and its gonna take people help to improve everything that is needed.

William Julius Wilson talk with Leonard Lopate he speaks about racism today. He talks about Obama as well as Bill Cosby speech. He mentions that where he lives he's often judged when he's dressed casual or just living in the expensive area he does. Leonard Lopate ask why do the people act that way when they are dressed casual to. He says "Because im black the rest or asian and white people". That in fact is both racism and being treated unequal. Being judge not because of what he does but of what race he is. In America there is still racism and even though Obama was elected president it doesn't change that there is racism.

The Beer Summit is another example of civil rights. Professor Gates was innocently trying to enter his house because he had left his keys. The neighbor sees it as burglary and calls the cops. The Cops didnt give Gates the time to explain neither did they acknowledge who he was. Gates is a professor in college who teaches about racism. Obama knew Gates personally and made a statement about the whole situation. The cops got upset about Obama entering local business. So Obama called everyone over the white house for some beers. Thats what the whole Beer Summit is. This has to do with civil rights just because if Gates was a white guy he would of most likely gotten away with more then he did being black. Whites,Asian and Indians usually don't get accused of doing anything bad just because what there race is. Which has to do with racism and this is why civil rights has to do with the Beer Summit.

U.S. approves settlement for black farmers is a article I've read. In U.S. approves settlement for black farmers it says that black and Hispanic aren't getting there full share. That white farmers do. So they are suing the government for more money. Obama is requesting the agency to provide more money for the farmers. This is a issue because its not civil rights. The black and Hispanics aren't getting equal treatment as white farmers are.

In the article Duncan will pressure schools to enforce civil rights laws. The county is ignoring the civil rights that were once promised to the African American people. In North Carolina there is five schools in a area. Within those for school there is only one school for the blacks and the rest for the whites. This is unfair in so many ways. One because the whites get way more schools then the African American students and the students do not attend the same school or learn in the same building. This is against the civil rights and it's racism. Duncan is investigating the situation and working to change the inequality. This is still going on today and it's been many years since the civil right law was passed.

America today still have alot of work to be done. There still plenty areas that are covered in racism. The way people of different races are looked at is wrong. If your Black or Hispanic you suffer inequality and it may take many years till it improves or fully gets better. Its gonna take more then one person to make these changes. Civil rights should be taken much serious then it is today. exoticbeautyjo@aim.com
